Label in French
[edit]In application of Wikidata:Requests for comment/How to avoid to use male form as a generic form in property labels in French?, the label on French includes now the male and the female form (chef ou cheffe d'État). PAC2 (talk) 21:12, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
Instances
[edit]What can be instances of this item? Please judge this edit. Infovarius (talk) 13:08, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with your version of President of Ukraine (Q579677): it is a subclass of head of state (Q48352). The instances of head of state (Q48352) are individual people. Swpb (talk) 16:56, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Swpb: so now you've made it even worse. Presidents of Ucraine are obviously heads of states (and hence position) but now relation is P31-P31 which is not transitive. It is not one position! It is class of it! --Infovarius (talk) 21:07, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- I think you were complaining about this edit. head of state (Q48352) is an instance of public office (Q294414), because having it be a subclass thereof creates erroneous inferences. Since Volodymyr Zelenskyy (Q3874799)instance of (P31)head of state (Q48352) (by inference), having head of state (Q48352)subclass of (P279)public office (Q294414) implies Volodymyr Zelenskyy (Q3874799)instance of (P31)public office (Q294414). Obviously, that's not right. The defining quality of P279 is "all instances of the subject must be instances of the object". Heads of state (that is, individual people) are not offices. You could create an item like "head of state (position)" whose instances are offices like President of Ukraine (Q579677) instead of individual people, and that item could be a subclass of public office (Q294414), but I don't see a lot of added value there. - Ok, I see. Thanks, I agree with your treatise. --Infovarius (talk) 21:27, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
