Confusion between Printmaking and Engraving[edit]
Hello,
I spent a lot of time to figure out which interwiki belongs to each wikidata item, with dictionnaries for each language.
Currently, there is a confusion between "printmaking" and "engraving", with interwikis in one item but belonging to another one, etc.
To summarize, and considering only French/Spanish/English languages:
- (en)"printmaking" belongs to item (Q271588) where are (fr)"gravure" and (es)"grabado";
- (en) -none- in an item (Q11060274) where are (fr)"estampe" and (es)"estampa";
- (en)"engraving" belongs to item (Q139106) where there is no French nor Spanish interwiki.
Printmaking is the general process of producing a print, which is exactly what (fr)"estampe" and (es)"estampa" stand for;
Engraving is the process in which there is incising, cutting, etc., which is exactly what (fr)"gravure" and (es)"grabado" stand for.
So you can clearly see there is a problem here.
I suggest:
- that in one item (according to me Q11060274), there be (fr)"gravure", (es)"grabado" and (en)"engraving" ;
- that in one item (according to me Q271588), there be (fr)"estampe", (es)"estampa" and (en)"printmaking".
And we need then to be sure that the interwikis belonging to a third item, Q139106, be added to the right ones. In my research, I figured out that there was only three interwikis belonging to that item : (pl) Grawerstwo, (ru) Гравировка and (uk) Гравірування that seem to be iron engraving, but in a goldsmithery way. That might be confirmed by natives.
Let's talk about it ;)

- Hello,
- I was told that the confusion might come from this: printmaking (Q271588) is a subclass of (P279) artistic technique (Q11177771), while print (Q11060274) is a work of art (Q838948). This is a mistake: a "print" is a work of art, but "printmaking" is the process of making this work of art, while engraving is a sub-process corresponding only to the incising, cutting, etc. techniques. So both printmaking and engraving are art techniques, leaving "print" as work of art. In French/Spanish, for instance, "Estampe"/"Estampa" correspond to this "printmaking" art technique, not the work of art (just check the article's content).

- Hello @Andreasmperu:, can you justify your reverts? If not, I'll roll back.
