Scope[edit]

Note that we have a different item for the post 1890 period (Exhibition of French Artists (Q3470124)), because the name was changed to "salon des artistes français". This matches French Wikipedia articles, as well as BNF authority controls, but it is not clear that it makes perfect sense, as the Salon had already changed name before (first name unclear, then usually called "Salon de l'Académie Royale" then "Salon de Peinture et de Sculpture", then again Salon de l'académie Royale... The new item may be justified by the change in the Salon organizer from the Academy to the Sociéé des artists français, however if the BNF is right, the change in name (and thus the new item) only applies from 1891 while the change of organizer occurred in 1881. --Zolo (talk) 13:38, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
