fdk-aac is not the official project[edit]
A lot of the information in this entry should be moved to an entry about (lib)fdk-aac, which is a third-party version of Fraunhofer's official library. fdk-aac is part of opencore-amr, which is a project by Martin Storsjö to extract audio codecs from the Android Open Source Project.
