    After graduation from the English High School, Boston, in 1883, he was employed as an accountant in mercantile business until his appointment, in 1873, as chief clerk of the Massachusetts Bureau of Labor Statistics, in which capacity he served under Colonel Carroll D. Weight (1873-1888) and Mr. Horace G. Wadlin (1888-1903). In 1903 Mr. Pidgin was appointed Chief of the Bureau to succeed Mr. Wadlin. He became the fourth Chief of the Bureau which was established in 1869. (English)
