Added constraints[edit]

I added a bunch of relevant constraints to improve quality. Multichill (talk) 18:22, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Multichill:Thanks, Multichill, for your concerns about improving our data quality. As the primary users of the property, we are grappling with the ramifications of your unilateral decision to apply numerous constraints on the property. Your action has created thousands of constraint violations. Many of the works in the ACT collection might not be classified as traditional artworks. For this reason, imposing the type constraint of class "work of art" (or its subclasses) is not appropriate. Because many of the images were retrieved from Flickr or were Commons works described only by an information template, it may not be possible to provide metadata required by many of the other constraints. Could you reconsider relaxing the restrictions by removing some constraints, for example, collection, to avoid more future violations? We would have avoided thousands of constraint violations if you could have discussed the changes you planned to place on the ACT ID. We prefer to have a seat at the table and prepare for the changes before a consensus is achieved. (Charlotte Y. Lew (talk) 13:11, 16 May 2022 (UTC))Charlotte Y. Lew[reply]
@Charlotte Y. Lew: welcome at the table. Based on your response and edit history I assume you're not familiar with the "Be bold" concept? Have a look! I made it suggestions so you don't get scary warnings.
Adding constraints is just a way to figure out what needs work. Looking at the type of work I see 103 violations out of 2,524, that's 4% . I see some odd items like Basilica of Aquileia - interior view (Q111821662) and Baptism of Christ (Q111842035) where it's unclear what the exact concept you're describing. Also some usage of stone carving (Q255848) and ivory carving (Q351853) which are activities. Some checking is needed here.
You seem to have additional data in your database that is not added here. That's a shame. Would be nice to have it here. See for example Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Christian religious art and Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Top religious art main subjects for what has already been done here.
