First progress[edit]

I just aligned some items - basic quantities from electromagnetism - and migrated existing described by source (P1343)-statements to use this property instead, giving us an initial set of 106 values. This count might seem small, but note that this is a manual process: To align one Wikidata item to an IEV entry one should study carefully the definition in the IEV and check whether the Wikidata item is about exactly the same concept. If not, one might have to split a Wikidata item into more specific concepts, add meaningful descriptions so that other users understand the difference, fill out properties like quantity symbol (LaTeX) (P7973) and so on. We reached about one thousand values. The task of aligning Wikidata and the IEV so far help a lot in clarifying and fixing the meaning of Wikidata items and providing additional labels in different languages. I also discovered some typos in the IEV which they fixed promptly on https://www.electropedia.org/. Just a quick status update. Toni 001 (talk) 17:54, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Btcprox: What's the purpose of specifying URL match pattern (P8966)? I just tried putting http://www.electropedia.org/iev/iev.nsf/display?openform&ievref=131-12-04 as IEV number (P8855) value of electrical resistance (Q25358): WD showed a constraint violation, but did not convert the URL to an id. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 14:04, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Vladimir Alexiev: That URL match pattern is more for helping of automated scraping of IDs from URLs. It doesn't automatically convert a URL string into the corresponding ID if you input that URL directly into the property's field on Wikidata. However, there is potential for tools to automatically extract the proper IDs to append to the items. Currently right now, Wikidata for Web (Q99894727) uses this to a great degree. Adding third-party formatter URL (P3303) for german “IEV-Wörterbuch”[edit]

Hi everybody,

I wanted to add a statement with the property third-party formatter URL (P3303) and the value “https://www2.dke.de/de/Online-Service/DKE-IEV/Seiten/IEV-Woerterbuch.aspx?search=$?”, but I don't seem to have the rights/permissions for editing property item pages. See Information for "Property:P8855" , section “Page protection”. Quote:

Edit Allow only users with "autoconfirmed" permission (infinite)

How do I get this permission? Or if you think it is a good idea to add this statement, can someone of you add it? --OleDrei (talk) 01:48, 01 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contribution, I added your suggestion. As far as I know you should become an "autoconfirmed" user after some time and some edits. Toni 001 (talk) 09:52, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
