Links are broken[edit]

The currently used values are still useful since they can be looked up by data consumers in their own references (for example the paper ATU books) but it would be good to fix this. Perhaps even change the property type to 'wikibaseitem' from 'externalid' and just have a one-of constraint with all of the types as their own item (and perhaps require a qualifier indicating which edition of the various publications of the three authors the type is asserted in. I fixed the formatter URL. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 10:13, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that types should get their own item. I think that the current version (2004, The Types of International Folktales (Q114956720)) should normally be used for this identifier. I tend to indicate older numbers via catalog code (P528), but your idea of using qualifiers could be a solution (giving the current version a preferred rank). It seems that MFTD (http://www.mftd.org/) includes tale type in older versions (e.g. the Aarne-Thompson-Index (AT)) that are not in the Aarne-Thompson-Uther-Index (ATU) anymore (one example would be tale type AT 64, that was merged into ATU 2A). MFTD does not make this clear, I think. In this case we could keep items for "historical reasons" but set this property's value to <no value>. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 10:30, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
