article about church (or similar)[edit]

We have many articles about parishes (I am not talking about the counties of Louisiana and similar!) A link to the article about the church is then good to have. Are there already any property than can be used for this? -- Lavallen (block) 08:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not all the places have a church. It's the same to create a property to museums, hospitals, cemeteries, airports... I don't think that this could be useful. - Sarilho1 (talk) 14:21, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
On the item about the church, you could use the property "part of" to link the article about the parish it belongs to. A more specific property could also be created.
This would in addition to the property "is in the administrative unit" locating it geographically. --  Docu  at 14:27, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Not all places have a church, true! But all parishes of the Swedish lutheran church in Sweden has one or several churches, with very few exemptions. In sv:Gudmundrå församling the article about one of the churches is linked in the infobox. (There is two churches and one known church-ruin in this parish.) Such a property would have the same function as P237, and not all places has a COA. Since these articles are about the clergal activity in a congregation of the Swedish church, the church is essential for that subject, and a link to an article about the architecture of that building is useful. There are several hundreds of articles about parishes of the Swedish lutheran church on svwp. (I am not a member of that church.)
Almost all parishes (freguesias) in Portugal (if not all) also have a church, but some have more and other have other types of religious building of other religions. If we use this property to churches, we should create a property to mosques, synagogues... - Sarilho1 (talk) 11:11, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think Lavallen meant "parishes" when used as a term for governmental administrative divisions (as in Louisiana, Portugal). The question is church only. --  Docu  at 12:19, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, this is not a govermental administrative division, even if it used to be 170 years ago, when the church was an instrument of the goverment. It would be good if such a property could be used for any article about the architecture of an article-related building, not only christian churches, yes. -- Lavallen (block) 12:33, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I can imagine that such a property could also be used for example in the infobox about the parliament of any State, and then link to the article about the architecture of the parliament-building. Because of that, I could imagine that I already could find such a property. -- Lavallen (block) 17:48, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added a proposal at Wikidata:Property_proposal/Organization#Place_of_worship. Maybe this captures what you are looking for. --  Docu  at 21:50, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for improving property proposal documentation[edit]

Hi

I suggested my first property this morning with a lot of help from Jens Ohlig and would like to give a bit of feedback about the process. I think the documentation could be improved, these are the issues I ran into when I nominated the property with additional documentation that would be helpful:

Fields within the template with unclear descriptions[edit]

|infobox parameter = Wikipedia infobox parameters, if any; ex: "population" in en:template:infobox settlement
It would be helpful to say how to find this information

|domain = types of items that may bear this property
Examples would be helpful here

|example = Universe (Q1)Earth (Q2)
This was the most unclear, it would be very helpful to have a description of the formatting, an example and how to use qualifiers if needed in the description and give an example

Description of error messages and how to fix them[edit]

When I saved the page I got the error message The ID entered is unknown to the system. Please use a valid entity ID. It is unclear what this error message means or how to fix it. If I was not getting help from Jens I would have got stuck, I couldn't see a way to proceed. Jens deleted the fields we weren't using which gave another error message Example MISSING which was more understandable and easily fixed.

General[edit]

It would be helpful to link through to the glossary where possible to remind people of the terms.

I hope this is helpful, happy to answer any questions, I will be proposing some more properties so may add to this later on.

Thanks

I don't understand the paragraphs[edit]

Why "Geographic location" and "Status"? The proposed properties have nothing to do with either. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 07:44, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

discussion again[edit]

Is it possible to put Wikidata:Property_proposal/HASC again on this page please. Thank you, Conny (talk) 12:12, 30 December 2019 (UTC).[reply]
