In sa.wikipedia there are 8000+ categories which don't have interwikilink. Like 2000 die should be connect with २००० मरणम् If some one can help me ? NehalDaveND (talk) 06:07, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request to revoke permission: BotMultichillT

This bot purports to add English aliases to items, but many of the aliases are non-English. See this edit as an example. The bot operator was notified but the bot continues to operate with no effort to correct the problem going forward, and no mention of any effort to correct past errors.

I request the bot permission be revoked until past errors have been corrected and a convincing plan to prevent future errors is presented. Jc3s5h (talk) 14:12, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously? These are all listed as valid aliases at ULAN. Someone requested some time ago to filter out non-latin, so I did.
Aliases exist to help people find this. They do in this case.
I was considering using the very rare information in ULAN when they tag it with a language, but that's so rare, it's not really worth the effort. As the user who requested it isn't being very nice, I declined that feature request. Multichill (talk) 14:26, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Aliases in various forms are used actively on the English Wikipedia, especially for important artists whose native names are not in English, or important artists whose work has hung for centuries in important art galleries and are known in those venues under native names. Most often these have to do with Dutch names nativized to English or Italian, but there are numerous examples for Russian. See en:El Greco as an example where the native name is used in the lead. Such naming conventions are common in English Wikipedia and all of these aliases belong correctly in the English alias field on Wikidata. We follow the convention of the Getty in this.
