Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons workshop - WikidataCon 2019.pdf
Room: Darwin Duration: 55min

In 2019, the free media repository Wikimedia Commons has been enhanced with multilingual, machine-readable structured data. It is now possible to describe media files on Wikimedia Commons through Wikidata items and statements. The Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons project provides the first major integration of data from Wikidata into the software of another Wikimedia project. In this hands-on workshop, participants will practically learn how to edit structured data on Wikimedia Commons, with a focus on media files that interest them. The session will cater specifically to participants from organizations that (intend to) partner with Wikimedia and will highlight the interrelation of Wikimedia Commons with Wikidata and the potential for content partnerships.
