About

This is documentation on using Scholia.

Understand Scholia's nature[edit]

Scholia is a scholarly profiling tool which searches Wikidata for research publications and presents them as a list and with data visualizations. Because Wikidata is a user-generated content platform, Scholia presents content which users have contributed. Some of Scholia's content is mass imported from existing public datasets; other content is the product of either human or automated curation of that public data; and other content is original human contribution. While many Scholia users simply read its content without editing, when a researcher identifies information gaps in Scholia profiles they may edit Wikidata to correct those gaps, thus making a subset of research data better indexed and improving the Scholia profile for future users.
