AndreCostaWMSE-bot (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Operator: André Costa (WMSE) (talk • contribs • logs)
Task/s: The function of the bot is to import data about immovable cultural heritage to Wikidata as part of Wikimedia Sverige's Connected Open Heritage Project.
This request is for data about cultural heritage monuments in Venezuela from the Wiki Loves Monuments Database.
Code: The bot uses Python and the Pywikibot framework. The code is up on Github: Framework, Specific table processing script. This is the same base as that used by AliciaFagervingWMSE-bot requests for Connected Open Heritage Project imports.
Function details:
The bot processes data from the Wiki Loves Monuments Database, in this case ve_(es), about 7000 items. They will all make use of Wiki Loves Monuments ID (P2186) as an identifier (with VE-
prefix).
Below you can see the:
- The mappings: Wikidata:WikiProject WLM/Mapping tables/ve_(es)
- An example of how the data is translated into Wikidata properties: Wikidata:WikiProject WLM/Mapping tables/ve_(es)/preview
- Matched items which will be updated: Wikidata:WikiProject_WLM/Mapping_tables/ve_(es)/matches

@André Costa (WMSE): what's the rationale behind instance of (P31)cultural property (Q2065736)? Personally, I would prefer something more meaningful like architectural structure (Q811979). But in the same time I'm not sure what is inside this dataset (except examples provided above). Yarl 💭 15:33, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- It's exactly because we cannot guarantee that it is actually a architectural structure (Q811979) that we can't add that as the default. In some datasets therer are statues, lakes, or even individual trees which are protected along with buildngs. The way it works though is that it doesn't add instance of (P31)cultural property (Q2065736) if the item already exists and has a different instance of (P31) already. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 15:56, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
