Temporary Restoration
[edit]Greetings Administrators,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to kindly request a temporary undeletion of the following items: Q136083652, Q134396013, and Q134474440.
The two items were created by me. I want to review and improve them, and address the issues that led to the deletion.
My intention is to update the entries with stronger sourcing and ensure they meet Wikidata’s notability and verifiability requirements before requesting a reevaluation.
I appreciate your on this.
Thank you for your time. Dunjhoye (talk) 20:49, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- i am aware that admin are busy and have life outside the wiki space but i would still appreciate your reply and help regarding this Dunjhoye (talk) 12:35, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- I had a look at the first item, Q136083652. t is about an individuum who promotes her businss and looks not notable to me. I would suggest to create an English Wikipedia article and, if it sticks, we will create an item. The notability policy for such individuals is the same here and at the English Wikipedia, and we are not a Wikipedia backdoor. Ymblanter (talk) 18:02, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply @Ymblanter
- i do not edit on English wikipedia nor do i know how, so there is no way i can do that.
- Also, not every item here has a English Wikipedia and i requested for temporary undeletion to fix and re-evaluates the items.
- You did comment on the other two items Dunjhoye (talk) 18:47, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- Q134396013 was a recreation of Q131345505. However, it contains the information that the subject is a fellow of the British Computer Society, which is a notable learned society. I would say this is a serious claim of notability. @Fralambert, Ameisenigel: what do you think? If you do not object I would restore the item. Ymblanter (talk) 18:34, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- I agree that this might be enough to establish notability. --Ameisenigel (talk) 18:41, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- I also agreed that notability is reach here. Fralambert (talk) 21:51, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Ameisenigel, @Fralambert, @Ymblanter
- Thanks for the reply and help regarding the items, i appreciate it. I will strive to be better in editing/creating items.
- And i just figured out that an editor has created another item for the same person (Q138871264). If other 2 previous items (Q134396013, Q131345505) are to be restored, will they be merged into one to make the item better? or what would be the best way to go about this? Dunjhoye (talk) 11:22, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks to everyone, I have restored one of the items and merged it with the existing ones, the result is at Q134396013. Ymblanter (talk) 12:01, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
- I also agreed that notability is reach here. Fralambert (talk) 21:51, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Fourth (!) report concerning User:Silesianus
[edit]Silesianus 🔕 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • SUL (for IP: GUC))
Please block User:Silesianus for disruptive editing. He was reported again and again and again for similar disrupted behaviour. He repeatedly blanks out his discussion page without responding to the requests. His non-consensual editing of descriptions was also recently discussed in a Czech project chat but he ignored the discussion. Yesterday, I fixed hundreds of his misguided edits, but they are emerging again as he keeps introducing the changes. This is no more about a specific format of descriptions, but a wider problem of one user ignoring the wider community and acting against its standards. He had many opportunities to refrain from his actions and learn how to operate in a community.
The edits continue as of 12/04/2026. We were ignored here last time. Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 11:47, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Saroj @Koavf Can local active admins please advise if we are reporting this correctly or we should not report this at all? Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 18:01, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
High speed vandal
[edit]Alexander Goldberg IL ( talk · contribs · logs ) - I came across the wrong merging of Q13974 and Q641676. But this user is apparently merging pages at high speed. Please have an eye on this urgently! Jcb (talk) 12:02, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- This was my error and I sincerely apologize. I am a doctoral researcher at Bar-Ilan University, not a vandal. I was running an automated script to clean up duplicate items my MARC-to-Wikidata pipeline had created. A bug in my SPARQL filter (CONTAINS(STR(?item), "/Q139")) incorrectly matched 14 items outside my Q138900000–Q139100000 working range, including Q13974/Q641676.
- All 14 incorrect merges have now been fully restored by Peter James (thank you). I have:
- Added strict numeric range checks to all scripts (hard block on items < Q138900000)
- Added a safety guard that prevents modifying any item not created by my pipeline
- Blocked all outgoing HTTP in my test suite
- Stopped all automated operations
- I take full responsibility and will not run any bulk operations without thorough testing and manual verification in the future. — Alexander Goldberg IL (talk) 18:35, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- So what did you learn today? Hopefully at least two things: 1. Wikidata is not your test environment. 2. Do not run your scripts here unmonitored. Jcb (talk) 22:04, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Report User:Trade
[edit]Hello,
Following this message, could you please remind User:Trade to use WD:AGF first and foremost, and the courtesy (en:WP:ETIQ) required by any community on his User talk:Trade?
Thank you in advance. Sincerely. —Eihel (talk) 12:14, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Link spamming
[edit]The account Sintesk7 is spamming items about populated places in Spain by adding links to periodico.top (a mostly useless machine-generated website with an insecure connection) in described at URL (P973). I raised this issue here. strakhov (talk) 14:46, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hola, @Strakhov. Total spam, ya he preguntado si algún bot puede deshacer esas ediciones. Ahora va por Commons… Madamebiblio (talk) 15:57, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Blocked for spamming links to external sites. --Lymantria (talk) 20:35, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Lymantria the bad links still need to be reverted https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Sintesk7 Vicarage (talk) 06:36, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- I see that Sintesk7 responded at their user talk page and are willing to revert their recent edits. I will therefore unblock them to give them the opportunity to do so. --Lymantria (talk) 07:59, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- They are not engaging, I think the account needs to be blocked and the links removed by admins. Vicarage (talk) 12:43, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
- I see that Sintesk7 responded at their user talk page and are willing to revert their recent edits. I will therefore unblock them to give them the opportunity to do so. --Lymantria (talk) 07:59, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
Deaf and mute user
[edit]Alexander Goldberg IL (talk • contribs • logs)
This editor merges unrelated items at an astonishing rate, does not respond to comments, and never corrects incorrect merges. Could you slow down the pace? Is there a feature that prevents users from using the merge function? Pallor (talk) 15:19, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- I sincerely apologize for the disruption. I am a doctoral researcher at Bar-Ilan University developing an automated pipeline for converting Hebrew manuscript catalog records (MARC 21) to Wikidata. During a cleanup of duplicate items my pipeline had created, a bug in my script's SPARQL filter (CONTAINS(STR(?item), "/Q139")) incorrectly matched 14 items outside my working range (Q138900000–Q139100000), including Q1399864 which I've already filed an unmerge request for.
- To be clear: I am not deaf or mute — I was simply not aware of the comments until now, as the merges were running via an automated script. The moment I discovered the issue, I stopped all operations, reverted what I could, and filed requests for admin help on the rest.
- Steps I've taken:
- Reverted 8 of the 14 incorrect merges
- Filed unmerge requests for the remaining items with sitelink conflicts
- Added strict safety guards to all scripts (hard block on items below Q138900000)
- Will not run any further bulk operations without thorough testing
- I take full responsibility and apologize to everyone affected. — Alexander Goldberg Alexander Goldberg IL (talk) 15:44, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Alexander Goldberg IL: thanks for the detailed reply, for taking responsibility and for the cleaning of the previous edits. I suggest you to create your userpage stating briefly the project you are developing, so that it is clear to all users passing by. And of course, be always careful with automated scripts, especially for a delicate operation such as merge; I am confident the new safety guards should solve the issue, and of course previous tests with very few items are always important. Good luck for the work you are doing and please always feel free to ask competent WikiProjects if you need help (e.g. Wikidata:WikiProject Authority control). Best, Epìdosis 22:06, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
User:Eihel has been an opponent of Wikidata:Property proposal/Enpedia ID. That is fine. What is not fine is that this user has now closed the proposal as "not done" despite being the only editor opposing in what is clearly a supervote. User:ZI Jony defended this action by posting an obviously AI generated response [1] to concerns raised by myself and User:Trade. Note that is is not just my opinion but also the opinion of User:Chipmunkdavis and User:Chaotic Enby, two users with a lot of experience on AI cleanup, who I asked over on en:Wikipedia talk:WikiProject AI Cleanup#Is this reply AI generated?. When I pointed out that the reply was AI generated, ZI Jony proceded to deny this [2] and Eihel accused me of "making unfortunate assumptions" because the message didn't suit me [3].
Regardless of whether you believe this property should exist or not, this conduct is worrying. I don't want editors to go against consensus by closing proposals they have voted in. But most of all, I do not want to be talking to ChatGPT whenever I try to address my fellow editors and then be told that I'm in the wrong when I call it out. While WD is not Wikipedia, I still think en:WP:LLMCOMM expresses my concerns accurately.
Also tagging: @Infrastruktur, @特急いよのたみ who participated in the discussion. Warudo (talk) 17:36, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- I do think there is a larger issue with actually creating engagement for property proposals. --Trade (talk) 19:46, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

My userpage
[edit]My user page only has my name and I still get this error. "This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Prevent standard users from editing others' user pages" My original user name was chrismcelroyseo because that is the same handle I use across all social media profiles, publishing platforms, etc. Could that be the cause? It's now saying I am Internet1996. Should I restart with that? I apologize for what is likely a very noob question. Internet1996 (talk) 14:15, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

- Just to note that they have continued to make this error today, which I have fixed. Yirba (talk) 11:33, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Automated script removal of valid labels on BLP item
[edit]This BLP item (Amy Lynn – Q138542409) is being repeatedly modified by automated cleanup scripts that remove valid labels/aliases. These labels are not redundant, and the automated changes are affecting the accuracy of a living person’s entry. I am requesting administrator review of automated tool use on this BLP. 972suhar (talk) 19:32, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Which part of Wikidata:Living people have been violated exactly?--Trade (talk) 03:32, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- If no policy was violated, then I withdraw the concern. I was referring only to the fact that the alias is documented and used in sources. 972suhar (talk) 04:31, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Request for assistance to check items notability
[edit]Hi, I've been checking on the notability of these items, which related to one another.
And items related to them or attached to them. During my checks, I found that they are relying to MusicBrainz Record, yet I am doubting the verifiability of the record. Could anyone help me verifying them further, if the source is legit and the subject is notable. Thank you. Yamato Shiya大和 士也 (Talk • Contribs) 05:46, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Mass reversion of changes without discussion
[edit]I would like to complain about @infovarius high handed changes in reverting my implementation of a set of mul changes without choosing to engage with me first. See https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User_talk:Infovarius#Stephen_Fewell Vicarage (talk) 19:33, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- I am sorry if I may seem rude here. And I must draw an attention to another 30 thousands edits with highly doubtful addition of mul. Infovarius (talk) 20:14, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- I concur, and asked the user on their talk page why English labels were being placed in mul over other Latin languages, even for classical authors (who have standard international Latin forms used in the literature). I was informed that "99.9% of people I changed have the same name in all latin scripts, so picking "en" rather than say "fr" makes no difference. That's the whole point of mul." Which is not the point of mul, and English is not the de facto choice for names of classical authors. I was also told that "As I changed SF authors and British military figures, the number of Ancient Greek and Roman changes must be minimal", which is really surprising considering that many ancient Greek and Latin poets [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12] were included in the changes. They are neither SF authors nor British military figures. --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:22, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for engaging with me, rather than attempting a mass reversion campaign without consultation. Vicarage (talk) 21:29, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
