Should we have a mechanism so that some labels could be automatically attached to items even if the WP version doesn't have an article? --Ricordisamoa 13:51, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

taxon name (P225)

BTW, isn't it easier to do something in Lua like:

Where should this be placed? ATM Wikibase doesn't support automatic real-time labelling of items via Lua... --Ricordisamoa 15:12, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

It should be located in a Lua-module in the Client. (The code-example is more a principle, than exact code.)

The Client does not support entity(id) ATM, that is correct. But it will in the future. (I hope, otherwise we have to rethink the whole thing with avoiding redunant information.)

In sv:Template:Länsfakta, I am already now using a Lua-module to get the sitelink from P237, but the label is locally defined. [[Sitelink from Wikidata|Locally defined label]]. -- Lavallen (block) 15:24, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

2.  Support My experience has shown that if russian wikipedia doesn't have an article about taxon, this being have no russian traditional name almost for sure. So latin name will be appropriate as a label for it. Infovarius (talk) 15:11, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

 Oppose or  Neutral it would only work for certain category of persons : actors, soccers, .... but for some old reason many other names French has its own name : for Kings, old scientists, clergymen, etc.... For instance, Whilelm has to be translated to Guillaume, Stephen to Stéphane for some cases and not for others. Rules are not simple to find. • That's satisfiable at the beginning. Later the consensus about standard naming order (NAME SURNAME or SURNAME, NAME) will be set and labels can go to aliases. Infovarius (talk) 12:46, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

  Here I mean only russian name (from russian article title). English name does definitely not fit into russian label. It can be sometimes used as alias but only if it is the name in original language. Infovarius (talk) 17:55, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Swedish

• The subject has been dicussed on svwp, and we prefer a local technical solution with Lua and maintainance-categories, since transcriptions to Swedish, from some languages looks very different than the English and many other languages. -- Lavallen (block) 14:19, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

1.  Support Seems useful. I have a question though. How do you know which item refers to a minor planet (and the same for the other kinds of things mentioned on this page)? Swedish

•  Support for named and un-numbered minor planets. The Swedish names are identical with the IAU-names (4 Vesta / 2010 TK7). The exact syntax for un-named but numbered minor planets have to be discussed (1996 XG3 or 21307 1996 XG3 or (21307) 1996 XG3 etc), but I think it can be solved. -- Lavallen (block) 05:49, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
