Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Other rights

From Wikidata
Jump to navigation Jump to search
Other rights: Requests for other rights
To add a request for the confirmed, property creator, or rollbacker rights, please use the following form. Add it to the bottom of the relevant section. Unlike permissions such as bureaucrat, these can be assigned by administrators.
Administrators already have the rights of these groups, and do not need to be assigned any of them.
{{subst:Request for permissions
|user    = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
|reason = REASON
}}
The "reason" is what will show up as a preloaded summary for administrators when they access Special:UserRights; it is also shown on this page. Do not add a section header or sign your message; these will both be done for you.

Requests for the confirmed right[edit]

Please see Wikidata:Confirmed users for details.

Ethn23[edit]

Ethn23 (talkcontribsnew itemsnew lexemesSULBlock logUser rights logUser rightsxtools)

User active on other wiki, who sometime have to modify semi-protected pages Ethn23 (talk) 18:59, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. In Q1286, P17 I need to add Hungary. Recently I asked to admin to modify Alba (Q18341) for interlinks --Ethn23 (talk) 19:04, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ethn23: given that you are only a few edits away from becoming autoconfirmed I'd prefer if you make some uncontroversial edits before diving in to pages that are protected for a reason, especially given your block on your primary wiki. Not marking this as  Not done in case another admin has other thoughts. --DannyS712 (talk) 19:38, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DannyS712: Thanks for your answer, can you modify the Q1286 adding in P17 Hungary?--Ethn23 (talk) 18:24, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Depending on the definitions used, a small mountain range in western Hungary may also qualify as part of the Alps, although these are more typically classified as foothills, and Hungary is not considered to be an Alpine country." (с) enWP. Deprecated rank? --Wolverène (talk) 04:39, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Added this way. I do not know if foothills are a real part of the mountain system, we are rather talking about Pre-Alps. Anyways, what is on the request ... why were you blocked on the itWP? --Wolverène (talk) 05:22, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was blocked on the itWP, as in the block object, for "steamroller actions" and a VdQ procedure which was not in the guidelines. --Ethn23 (talk) 16:45, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I was not really going to judge you for that, was just curious... --Wolverène (talk) 18:11, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Closed as you are an autopatrolled user now, congratulations. --Wolverène (talk) 18:11, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I would like to be confirmed since I can't edit some of the wikidata that is not accurate. --Alexceltare2 (talk) 13:56, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think that this discussion is resolved and can be archived. If you disagree, don't hesitate to replace this template with your comment. Infrastruktur (talk) 19:16, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for the rollbacker right[edit]

If you are not nominating yourself, please secure the acceptance of the candidate. The rollbacker flag is usually only granted to users who have some experience in fighting vandalism on Wikidata. For more information, please see Wikidata:Rollbackers.

While not required, {{subst:Rollbacker}} can be used to notify a user that they have been granted rollback. Rollbackers may wish to add {{Rollbacker userbox}} and/or {{Rollbacker topicon}} to their user or talk pages.

PotsdamLamb[edit]

PotsdamLamb (talkcontribsnew itemsnew lexemesSULBlock logUser rights logUser rightsxtools) I am an active rollbacker on both Simple and commons. I have had the rights for simple since 2001 and before that on ENWP (before I was blocked, unrelated to any misuse of the tool). It has never been taken from me for an abuse either and have a substantial amount of vandalism (and even some cross-wiki fighting) I feel I am qualified to have this right here. Thank you, and I look forward to your response. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 00:07, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I want to add that I have seen a lot of vandalism (mostly from IP editors) on here and for me to revert some of them, I use mass revert (Vandal Cleaner) which cleans up all of them and restores to the previous version before that editor even started. Of course, I do go through each one and verify first. However, like in the IP I reported earlier, it is evident based on edit summaries like my butt and others. Plus everything was a deletion, including basically wiping out a whole object. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 01:39, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I won't hold socking against you, you seem like a good person. But you will have to earn back some of that trust yeah? I will grant the right temporarily for a month, assuming you make use of it appropriately it will be granted permanently. We do kind of need all the moderators that we can get. Infrastruktur (talk) 02:03, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Infrastruktur The socking from ENWP is actually not correct. I lost my password to my main account (even verified by a CU on ENWP) so I created this account to be able to edit on SEWP. When someone was going through logs, they saw my account and blocked it, even though I did send an email to the arbitration and admins about the new account and the reasoning. So this account is not a sockpuppet and it has been a long time since I did have another account. Thank you for the temporary rights. It will help me out. Do you have a channel on IRC that the bot posts your changes too? I like it because it is in real time so I can see what is happening and try to stop it before it is too much out of hand. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 02:07, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The amount of edits on Wikidata so high that it makes it hard to use recent-changes unless you filter out changes that are more likely to be vandalism. https://wdpd.toolforge.org/ is also very useful aggregating edits on pages or users. Infrastruktur (talk) 14:40, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If this tool is not to your liking, you can also try [1] which I personally find quite useful KonstantinaG07 (talk) 17:14, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Infrastruktur@KonstantinaG07 Thank you both for those links. I will have a look and see which one I like better or a mix of the two. Looks like a lot of Qs need to be patrolled yet, so I can also look at those to ensure the info is accurate. Thanks - Da LambTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 21:22, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for the property creator right[edit]

Please see Wikidata:Property creators for details.

Users may self-nominate, or nominate one another; however, users should not be given this right if they do not want it, and non-self-nomination requests should be put on hold until the nominee comments accepting the nomination.

Administrators may add the property creator flag to the accounts of users who:

  • are generally trusted members of the community, preferably with at least some history in working with properties, and
  • have shown a satisfactory understanding of how Wikidata works, especially regarding the property namespace, datatypes, and related concepts.

Users should generally not be made property creators solely or primarily based on their work on other projects; property creator is currently the only right unique to Wikidata, and this should be taken into consideration when requesting or granting it.

Property creator right must be only granted following a request on this page which must remain open for at least 48 hours. An exception may be made for the case of regranting of the right to former property creators and administrators where the reason for removal was uncontroversial or due to inactivity.

Property creators may wish to add {{User property creator}} to their userpages.

Requests for IP block exemption[edit]

Note: If you are not able to edit this page, please send your request to info@wikidata.org.

Simon Villeneuve[edit]

Simon Villeneuve (talkcontribsnew itemsnew lexemesSULBlock logUser rights logUser rightsxtools)

Hello,
I would like to request an IP block exemption as I regularly contribute from locations where I do not have sufficient confidence in the Wi-Fi to use it without my personal VPN. I use Private Internet Access (Q17076224) and all IP ranges for this service seem to be blocked.
I understand the importance of IP blocking for security purposes, but I would be grateful if you could exempt me from IP blocking or provide me with an alternative solution that would allow me to continue contributing without compromising my security.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Simon Villeneuve (talk) 01:58, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
