Begrundelse

Scientific meetings (conferences/workshops) has a group of researchers that determine which contributions (articles/abstracts/presentations/demos) that will be accepted to the meeting. This is usually called the program committee. For modeling scientific events a property catching this relationship is wanted.

This is the inverse of the suggestion at Wikidata:Property proposal/program committee member.

The suggestion here (as oppose to Wikidata:Property proposal/program committee member) may be better as some conferences may have over 1000 program committee members.

I have changed the preposition from "of" to "for" for the name of the property. To me (as a second-language English speaker) that sounds better. •  Comment this should not be limited to scientific events but broadened to convention (Q625994) and other classes that may have a corresponding committee, such as awards. For instance the Ig Nobel Board of Governors is decides on the Ig Nobel Prize (Q184253).

•  Support Even though I support I like JakobVoss's idea to make this more general for other kinds of committees. I would like to bring conference data into Wikidata and focusing on "program committee members" would be a great choice to encourage this. Alternatively we could use a general property like "is a committee member of". I looked around and saw these existing similar properties. I do not think any of these is the right fit for this use and support the creation of some kind of committee property. member of (P463) comes close but some conferences, like Wikimania, let all attendees vote on things so I can understand how maybe we want a specific property to distinguish the designated committee members.

For the proposed property there should at least be a subject item "program committee". I changed to value class from scientific event (Q52260246) to event (Q1656682) and added an example to  Support the proposal. -- JakobVoss (talk) 10:46, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

• Maybe I was overly ambitious in starting this but to go along with this proposal I tried to set up Wikidata:WikiProject Event Metadata, a project to review and suggest models for how to capture aspects of academic conferences and other events in Wikidata. I had trouble filling in some gaps but I will think about it and add more. If this property is developed then that could be a component of modeling conferences in Wikidata. •  Wait I see no justification of why the link is in the proposed direction. I would expect that there are people who are in their lifetime in the program committee of a hundred events.   • Initially I proposed it in the other direction: Wikidata:Property proposal/program committee member. However, I then came to realise that some conferences has a very large number of program committee members. For instance, The Web Conference 2018 (Q48910401) has many more than hundred members (perhaps over 1000), see [1].
