Motivation

Cell lines are often established from human or animals suffering from a medical condition (often cancer but also genetic diseases). To describes from which disease a cell line originates, I was using "Medical condition" but this is not allowed, as this property should only be applied to entities that are persons, fictional characters or animals. Thus the need for a new property.--Amb sib (talk) 09:44, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Discussion

  • Symbol support vote.svg Support This property makes sense to me, having specific cell lines added to Wikidata with this property implemented would allow interesting queries/intersections with other disease related data. --Andrawaag (talk) 14:45, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

  • Symbol support vote.svg Support Valuable for describing cell lines. Will there be one for the immortalization process? Gtsulab (talk) 16:58, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
    • For the moment the plan is not to model the exact immortalization process of transformed cell lines in Wikidata: this can be quite complex as it can be a chemical compound, a virus, a modified virus, a plasmid, a protein, a mutated protein or a form of radiation.--Amb sib (talk) 15:14, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
