- Motivation
This is a resubmission (by a different person) of Wikidata:Property_proposal/contact_point, with modification of domain and data type. I share the motivation with the original proposal as the example of the original proposal is also about data set (Q1172284). Typically, email address (P968) suppose individual entity (Q23958946) and its subclasses as its domain. But, creative work (Q17537576) and its subclasses can also have a contact point for interaction about the work.
maintained by (P126) or represented by (P1875) can be the property that can indicate an organization in charge, and its object item can have email address (P968) information. But, on the website, contact information sometimes does not accompany person or organization information (e.g. e-mail address like contact@[projectname].org). email address (P968) currently has its super-property URL (P2699) from the viewpoint of format solely, and the contact point property can be another super-property from the viewpoint of the role.
Moreover, not only the mail address but also web forms or SNS account information can be contact information. It isn't easy to find such information on the website written in a language you are not familiar with. In other words, such information is worth being written clearly.
"allowed values" are not instances of contact point (Q30322502). By making the contact point (Q30322502) entity, rich information like available language in the contact point can be described (cf. https://schema.org/availableLanguage), but such information rarely written on the website of the work. Just URLs are informative enough.

- It's unclear to me why a separate property from email address (P968) is needed. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 18:33, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Not only e-mail addresses but also a web form or SNS account information can be the contact point of a creative work. In other words, super-property of email address (P968) is needed for describing various contact point information. --KAMEDA, Akihiro (talk) 05:11, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
