Since the WFO Plant List (Q120267307) has replaced the The Plant List (Q625817), I propose introducing a new feature, instead of Plant List ID (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) (P1070). However, at the time of filling out this form, the site https://wfoplantlist.org/ is unstable; I hope they fix it. As far as I can see any use of World Flora Online ID (P7715) is automatically converted to the format proposed here, so this would be an out-and-out replacement for World Flora Online ID (P7715)? - Brya (talk) 02:24, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@ArthurPSmith, @Brya, To be honest, I don't really understand the architecture of the WFO Plant List database. I just want a link to the WFO Plant List to appear in the links block at the bottom of taxon pages (in the English Wikipedia, this is the Template:Taxonbar (Q22741012), and in the Russian — Template:Authority control (Q3907614). 😇

WFO Plant List certainly uses World Flora Online ID (P7715) and IPNI plant ID (P961), but it displays a snapshot of which name is considered valid and which is a synonym at a given point in time. The identifier, is apparently = World Flora Online ID (P7715) + revision date. Whether they are generated dynamically or compiled manually each time, I don’t know. Since I am not a native English speaker, I don't want to contact the developers because I might not understand them. Afanasovich (talk) 14:12, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
