- Motivation
The Global Agricultural Concept Scheme (GACS) is a multilingual agricultural thesaurus / concept scheme that brings together the core 15,000 concepts from three major agricultural thesauri: AGROVOC, CAB Thesaurus and NAL Thesaurus. GACS is already a hub for these three thesauri (and linked to them using SKOS mapping relationships) and linking it to Wikidata would make it even better connected. We would likely want to start mapping the 540 geographical concepts first, using Mix'n'match. Other types of concepts such as taxons, agricultural products and chemicals could follow, depending on concrete needs and use cases. Osma Suominen (talk) 15:57, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

Support Having more conceptual mappings like this is good - however, should the id we use include the 'C' prefix that seems to be part of the identifier? ArthurPSmith (talk) 16:19, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- The C stands for Concept (in the SKOS sense) and is used in all GACS concept identifiers. There are also a few other entities in the same namespace, namely thematic groups / classes that divide the vocabulary by topic, and these use the letter G as the first character of the identifier. I don't think it makes sense to link them into Wikidata though. For me both options are possible, we could include the C in the identifier stored in Wikidata but it is rather redundant since all concepts have it. I followed the pattern of YSO ID (P2347) which has a similar identifier structure. --Osma Suominen (talk) 19:45, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
