Motivation

FBref (and the broader Sports Reference network of sites) is a well-known, useful, trusted site for soccer stats. Being able to link to competitions from Wikidata would be valuable for showing stats about a league or a season (seasons can be linked to by adding, for example /1994-1995 or /2024 to the end of the URL). Compared to existing similar properties, Transfermarkt competition ID (P12758) only includes men's soccer and Opta football competition ID (P8735) is not as easy to generate links to, so this ID fills an important role not already served. –IagoQnsi (talk) 00:10, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
