Defined daily dose is a well described property of medications. Here for example is the values defined by the World Health Organization.[2] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 13:16, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Doc James: Please provide a |description=. It's also probably best to specify the units by quoting the relevant QID. At the very least "IUs" needs to be clarified. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:28, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks will work on that. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 00:26, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
  • Support but also I am not sure. There is an article for this concept at English Wikipedia. For a concept to have a property in Wikipedia I like for the concept to be well defined. It seems like the WHO uses this property in some of its publications. By their definition, it seems like this is an important concept, but I pause a bit because the article on English Wikipedia is not citing sources and might not meet basic notability criteria. Is this really the right term for this concept, or does this concept have another more popular name? It would be easier for me to support this if there was another source cited on English Wikipedia discussing or explaining this topic.
From another perspective I see lots of articles in pubmed talking about this topic. It seems to be used commonly, and that is all Wikidata requires for a property. I think I support establishing this as a property but at the same time I wish that someone could identify a good source defining and critiquing the concept. Good sources go on English Wikipedia and help to explain the Wikidata property. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:07, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it seems that there is more information. Wikidata should have this property. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:38, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I am not sure, because the doses for individual patients and patient groups will often differ from the DDD, even though maybe we should have something. --Geoide (talk) 11:45, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is just the most common daily dose for an adult of 70 kg without kidney or liver problems. Next one would add whether or not adjustment is needed for kidney or liver problems. They one will add per kg dosing (and whether or not this is based on ideal versus actual body weight). And then one would need typically frequency and duration of dosing. Etc. This is just a basic start as one needs to start somewhere. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 14:05, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Created at defined daily dose (P4250). It's been a while I last created the property, so if I missed some procedures, let me know. — Revi 13:03, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
