There are probably >18000 such categories on Commons and many of them are now difficult to discover. At the same time, interiors are usually not notable enough to deserve an item. This would help Wikipedias and other users of Wikidata content to link to specific categories dedicated to multimedia which are taken inside buildings etc. Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 19:04, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

  • And what about just using multiple values for Commons category with a proper qualifier (e.g. applies to part (P518))? --Mormegil (talk) 19:19, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
    • Possible, although this might make life more complicated for p373>sitelink bots. Also, it would require that we lift some od the current constraints of P373 (single value, specification of allowed qualifiers).Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 19:27, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
If the “default” value would be preferred, the bots might even work correctly. Also, sure, one constraint would need to be modified (+ separator (P4155) applies to part (P518)), but that is definitely a lesser change than a brand new property, isn’t it. --Mormegil (talk) 16:08, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
  • What about applies to part (P518) = interior (Q2998430) as a qualifier? Nomen ad hoc (talk) 17:22, 28 October 2019 (UTC).
  • Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose in the proposed form. The datatype of this property needs to be different - it should match topic's main category (P910) to link to a category item rather than just being a string. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 10:11, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

@Mike Peel, Jura1, Tinker Bell: Based on your suggestions, I have changed the datatype to "item" to match topic's main category (P910). If this was your major objection, would you now please reconsider your votes? Thanks for the feedback, Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 16:16, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
