- Motivation
For the further advancement of company and organisational information on Wikidata, it would be convenient with a property that records information about board of directors (Q188628). I suppose it is already possible today to some extent by making an item for the specific board and then use member of (P463) on the page for the human. Yet another method is with position held (P39), board member (Q2824523) and one form of qualifier (of (P642)?). This property suggestion is inverse in that it suggests a property for the organisation where the object value is a human. Do we have other better methods? — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 13:09, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose Use exiting properties, on the items for the board members. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:49, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
- Could @Pigsonthewing: elaborate on which properties and how we should use them? Like this? — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 15:06, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

- Interested as well by properties to use (if we don't get a dedicated property). Board members are often linked to conflicts of interest. So it is essential that we can add them easily.--Teolemon (talk) 15:56, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Weak opposeI would prefer if the information is entered with position held (P39). ChristianKl (talk) 19:58, 8 September 2016 (UTC)- Thanks for the comment. So that would be like what I have done here? Or which Wikidata qualifier (Q15720608) is appropriate other than of (P642)? I suppose that any query would be more complication, particularly if you would like to list board member (Q2824523) for a company. — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 08:37, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- In the past I used employer (P108) with position held (P39) in Eugen Kröner (Q25712423). I wouldn't call being a CEO an occupation. An occupation is something that's distinct from the organisation in which a person is employeed. If they are fired they are still in the same occuption. I would call his occupation "businessman" or something along those lines.
- There might be cases where member of (P463) is better than employer (P108).ChristianKl (talk) 09:25, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- Support I don't think this is terribly useful for WD, but adding them to the organization items seems preferable to filling P39.

- Support Board members are usually key to good (or bad) corporate governance, and being able to query them easily will be useful for journalists, people looking in conflicts of interest, people looking in diversity and gender imbalance of those boards… Having a simple property will promote usage of the property.--Teolemon (talk) 20:42, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
- I changed to Support, I find Teolemon arguments convincing. ChristianKl (talk) 18:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
