Motivation[edit]

Plan on adding Q-items for stopplaces in at least one city in Norway and they ought to be added with their ID. Infrastruktur (talk) 06:51, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  •  Comment For bus stops, one stop place can be a pair of quays (one for each direction) or a single quay, or for a train terminal a quay could be one of many train platforms etc. I guess the question is if this level of detail is useful, or if the stopplace alone is sufficient. It seems to be the model used for Google Transit. Infrastruktur (talk) 14:31, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment After discovering this is available from OSM via SPARQL, there is probably not any use for this now. Proposal withdrawn. Infrastruktur (talk) 00:06, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Infrastruktur: Your examples look backwards? Also do any of these stops have existing wikidata items? ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:01, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This property is only useful for Norway. There seems to be next to no existing items on Wikidata for what would be called a Quay, but there are a good deal of train stations or ferry routes. Train station would use the NSR stopplace ID, not the NSR quay ID, since there are no railway platforms on Wikidata.
bus stops norway: 3 world: 13K
railway station norway: 852 world: 105K (there seems to be few or no items for quays or platforms) station is analogous to the proposed NSR stoplace ID.
and there seems to be no items for ferry terminals on nowiki, just for the ferry routes themselves.
So in conclusion no existing items will benefit, but the other NSR stopplace ID would might benefit the 852 train stations. Those seems to be complete with routing as well, but from the looks of it that data is a bit of a mess. Infrastruktur (talk) 16:10, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
