I think, many articles from Near East (Q48214) (historically term) must move to Middle East (Q7204). I just resolved it for Latvian language, but I saw there are same problem in another languages too. --Treisijs (talk) 21:10, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

However, "中东/中東" can sometimes include Afghanistan (Q889) which is judged as a part of Central Asia (Q27275) in all Western world (Q160381), but "近东/近東" can't. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 02:08, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

@Liuxinyu970226: itwiki describes Q3622002 as a "continuous portion of the surface of the Earth whose extension is characterized by a width of not less than a few square kilometers." It's the first time I try to merge interwiki, but a conflicts stopped me from going through. I hope someone else will be more efficient than me. --Nickele (talk) 22:05, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

  • @Nickele: these are about two different concepts: azo group (functional group) and azo compounds (class of chemical compounds). It should not be merged. The problem is that some wikis describe both concepts in one article (either in 'azo group' or in 'azo compounds', but some wikis have these concepts separated). Wostr (talk) 10:07, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
    • Thanks Wostr. I see now the distinction. I was surprised to see 2 pages for these similar but different concepts only in Polish. Because of that, the interwiki for the French and German pages is very small. Iguess, the only solution to create the equivalent for azo compounds in French?--Nickele (talk) 13:37, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
      • @Nickele: or you can just rewrite the French article a little, it's up to the French community. We had a RfC here in Wikidata to enable redirects, but it's not supported yet – in that case it would be possible to add redirects in both WD items for the languages that have both concepts described in one article. However, even if there is no sitelink in any of these two items, merging them would be incorrect – Wikidata have many items without sitelinks and in this case both items are correct, even without sitelinks. Merging chemistry-related items is not simple, because something may be well described in one encyclopedia article, but may constitute two, three or more different concepts (different Wikidata items), e.g. chiral chemical compound with two stereogenic centres may be described in one article, but in Wikidata this chemical compound will be described in several items (like homocystine is described in 6 different items). goods (Q28877)/tangible good (Q1485500)[edit]

Items involved: Q28877Talk, Q1485500Talk Status: X mark.svg   not resolved

Some of the articles listed under Q1485500 (tangible good), specifically the Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian language articles, should be listed under Q28877 (goods). The articles in aforementioned languages linked under Q28877 (goods) right now do not directly translate to "goods" as contrasted to "services" in the English language, but denote a broader concept, similar to "goods and services", and don't have a direct translation to English, not that I know of. However, the articles listed under Q1485500 (tangible good) do translate to "goods" as contrasted with "services" and for this reason it would be much more helpful if they linked to the English article for "goods"; right now no English article is linked. -- Kiutsushou (talk) 01:14, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

@Liuxinyu970226: Why do you say it is confusing? Milano Porta Garibaldi railway station (Q801187) is a station composed by two parts: an upper one (Milano Porta Garibaldi railway station (Q22815081)) and a lower/under ground one (Q22815083). Those parts are served by different railways and so have different adjacent stations. Moreover, if you go on or you can see that even the operators use different items to define the upper and the lower part of the principal station. I really don't get what's «totally confused». I'm sure I have correctly mapped the items and I hope to make your idea clear. --★ → Airon 90 11:56, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

One is for the genus of plants, the other for the species. The species A. hierochuntica is the only notable plant in the genus, a separate item for both is not necessary. Six wikis currently use the genus item, seventeen use the species. Only the Vietnam language wiki has a separate article for both, with both being stub articles. The Spanish wiki has a page for both, but Anastatica redirects to Anastatica hierochuntica. This makes linking between different language wikis unnecessarily difficult. It seems that some wiki-pages make the distinction between analytical mechanics and theoretical mechanics. One of these items contain labels which only translate to 'analytical mechanics' (in be, et, ru, uk). The other item is roughly 50/50 divided between 'theoretical mechanics' and 'analytical mechanics'.

A simple merge does not work because some languages will refer to both subjects.

I'm inclined to change the corresponding wiki-articles and labels to the 'analytical mechanics' for those who have them available. Is that the correct way to do it? --Rasinj (talk) 17:01, 24 March 2019 (UTC)
