Descriptions
[edit]
Hello, I'm Madamebiblio. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent description edits didn't meet the Wikidata description guidelines. Descriptions should appear as though they were in the middle of a sentence, typically start with a lowercase letter, and written from a neutral point of view. For example, "pop singer" would be a better description than "He is the best pop singer." If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Madamebiblio (talk) 16:47, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
- sorry, I don't know which wikidata item you were talking about. I don't think I revised the item you created. Could you please send me the Q number for the item so that I can take a look? Thanks. Tushuguangongzuo20 (talk) 14:28, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi again, see descriptions added at Q45566505, Q45593382 and Q45567361 (and others). Thanks. Madamebiblio (talk) 17:51, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for providing the Q numbers as examples. First, I would like to clarify that I only added Chinese descriptions or CBDB IDs to these items, which do not involve lowercase or uppercase. The English descriptions in these entries were not written by me. Second, the word "Qing" (or "Ming", etc.) should be capitalized, as it refers to a historical dynasty. Third, the Chinese descriptions I included are sourced from Ming Qing Women's Writings (https://digital.library.mcgill.ca/mingqing/english/index.php). The examples you provided are written in a neutral point of view.
- Once again, thank you for your time and your messages. Tushuguangongzuo20 (talk) 20:11, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Tushuguangongzuo20 Remember that descriptions are: short, concise and not ending with punctation. Please read this guideline. Madamebiblio (talk) 23:49, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, no ending with punctuation. Tushuguangongzuo20 (talk) 00:07, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
