Autocomfirmed right

[edit]

Hi @Lucas Werkmeister!

A Celtic Knot satellite event is ongoing and some participants are having challenges translating Wikidata properties because they are not autocomfirmed yet. Please can they be autocomfirmed so that they can participate? They are users user:Excel mimi, user:PreshAmarachi, user: Erinma Imo, user:Chinenye1111, and user:Unobukwu Merian Nneka. Thanks in anticipation and I look forward to hearing from you. Olugold (talk) 05:00, 1 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Olugold: Please see Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Other rights#Confirmed. I don’t have permission to add anyone to any groups here. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 10:31, 1 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

[be-tarask] labels

[edit]

Please notice that Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrainian etc. surnames usually have different spellings in Belarusan language, no need to add wrong labels about them in [be-tarask] landuage code, thanks. Taravyvan Adijene (talk) 08:37, 5 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Taravyvan Adijene: That edit was made by Namescript; if you have an issue with it, it’s probably best to bring it up at Wikidata talk:WikiProject Names. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 19:57, 5 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata:Wikidata Lexeme Forms

[edit]

Hi, I don't think this would fundamentally work with Tamil, it has 16 declensions for each noun (wikt:செல்#Declension), and 80 conjugations for each verb (wikt:செல்#Conjugation). Asking a user to put all these variants manually is not good practice to say the least. However, these conjugations/declensions have well defined rules with little exceptions. Is there any way I can code an auto-generate button for this? Can you please link the source code? Thanks, Matrix (talk) 13:44, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Matrix: FWIW, that would be well below the largest existing templates of the tool – see e.g. Wikidata:Wikidata Lexeme Forms/Bengali#ক্রিয়াপদ or Wikidata:Wikidata Lexeme Forms/Czech#české přídavné jméno se jmennými tvary, which some people evidently found useful. But it is also possible to generate forms using Wikidata:Wikidata Lexeme Forms#Wikifunctions support if someone creates the different functions and adds them to the templates at Wikidata:Wikidata Lexeme Forms/Tamil. (See also the talk page for why those templates aren’t yet included in the tool.) Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 19:23, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata Lexeme forms for Central Bikol

[edit]

Hi Lucas, I have tried creating one for Central Bikol: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Wikidata_Lexeme_Forms/Central_Bikol. Originally, I was trying to run a query on how to count lexeme edits per editor in our language, but I cannot do one. I have browsed for some tools and I was able to see this site: https://lexeme-forms.toolforge.org/. There was no Central Bikol language there, so I have tried filling out the Wikidata Lexeme forms for our language. Thank you. Kunokuno (talk) 13:40, 14 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Kunokuno: Hi! Before I can add support to the tool, you need to create one or more templates on that page for kinds of lexemes that can be created using the tool; see e.g. /English for comparison. Often there’s approximately one template per lexical category, but it may also make sense to have multiple templates for a single lexical category (see e.g. the masculine/feminine templates in /Spanish). To add a template, use the form that’s currently on the page and then fill in the text that it suggests before saving. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 19:25, 14 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Language label mul

[edit]

Hello! Can you tell me how the default for all languages (mul) works? The reason for my question is that an user claims that by adding default for all languages one can remove all other languages (descriptions) because the muliti language setting will cover all. Will this be correct for sorting, searches and QUERIES. For the norwegian (bokmål) Wikipedia at least removing the norsk bokmål label will inflict the "second header" with WD links. See for instance Frank Pedersen (Q99945677) and Frank Pedersen (politiker) – Wikipedia Best regards Pmt (talk) 12:59, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Pmt: The basic idea is that the mul label can be shown as the label for all languages. It’s different from the en label, which can also be shown for all languages if no other label is available, in that the mul label won’t show a language fallback indicator first, because it’s assumed that if a mul label exists then it’s in principle suitable for all languages, so no indicator is necessary. (Note that not all items can or should have a mul label; it’s only suitable for some kinds of items.) Beyond that, I don’t understand what problem you have related to Frank Pedersen – I don’t know what you mean by a “second header” at no:Frank Pedersen (politiker), but also, Frank Pedersen (Q99945677) is not the item linked to that article (and Frank Pedersen (Q123014324) still has an nn label). Wikidata Lexeme forms for Malay

[edit]

Hi, I found that the one for Malay seems to be marked as not done yet, may I know what else is needed to complete it? Thanks. EmpAhmadK (talk) 16:23, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

@EmpAhmadK: My browser history says I’ve visited that page before (in July 2023, so that would’ve been before Tofeiku’s September 2023 edits), but I don’t remember how I came across it or if there were any issues with it. I suspect the issue is just that I was (as far as I can tell) never pinged about it, so I had no idea if the templates were ready to be added to the tool or still a work in progress.
I’m also suspicious of the transitive verb (Q1774805) / intransitive verb (Q1166153) grammatical features on the verb forms, as those sound to me like they should be features of the whole lexeme, not individual forms; this query shows some usage of transitive verb (Q1774805) in a few languages (intransitive verb (Q1166153) has somewhat fewer results), but it’s not a huge amount (in Basque, 4745 forms use transitive verb (Q1774805) but they’re spread across just six different lexemes).
