Since the Wikipedia article w:Espeon and Umbreon is not specifically about the Pokemon "Espeon", it is not an appropriate sitelink for this item. Additionally, the aliases you added do not appear to be appropriate English aliases. You can add non-English labels and aliases either by switching your language settings or by enabling the "labelLister" gadget in Special:Preferences. --Yair rand (talk) 13:27, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Right, I was unsure whether it was close enough, thanks for clarifying. Could you point me at the policy page for future reference? And I'll enable that gadget now.--Esp261 (talk) 13:35, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm not sure what policy you're referring to. If you're asking about sitelink specificity, that's a result of technical limitations, not established policy. Sitelinks are used to match articles to items as well as items to articles, so no two Wikidata items can contain the same sitelink. Thus, if we are to have an item for "Espeon and Umbreon", the sitelink to the English Wikipedia article "Espeon and Umbreon" needs to be connected to that item, and not to the items for just "Espeon" or "Umbreon". --Yair rand (talk) 13:52, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. Yes that's what I was talking about. I took "linked to" as related rather than technically linked. That seems like it would massively limit the scope of data unless data for items without pages is allowed, for example, putting the dex number or alternate language names of a species would be extremely awkward for species without specific pages. But I understand now, thanks.--Esp261 (talk) 14:18, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
