Wikidata and Sister Projects: an online event
[edit]Hello Dnshitobu, I hope you don’t mind me reaching out. I was recommended by Lydia Pintscher to invite you for potentially hosting a session at an upcoming event, Wikidata and Sister Projects, (an X Days-style online conference) which is focused on showcasing the different ways Wikidata connects and supports the Wikimedia projects. We would like to hold a session to introduce Wikimedians from other projects to the benefits and power of SPARQL-queries and how it can aid them in finding new facts to enhance their articles, find redlinked subjects to work on and find new ways to visualise or explore linked open data.
If you have any interest, session proposals can be found here: Event discussion page
It is scheduled to take place May 29 – June 1, 2025, with approx. 3 hours of session content per day split into 30 minute to 1 hour sessions. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Thanks, - Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 06:28, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Danny Benjafield (WMDE) Thank you so much for reaching out and thank you too to our leader, Lydia Pintscher. for the recommendation. I have registered for the event and I will be glad to submit in my proposal. I am also available to volunteer and if there are opportunities for usch, let me.
- Best regards Dnshitobu (talk) 22:24, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oh that's great news, I look forward to seeing it and will surely let you know about volunteer / moderation slots too! Thanks again -Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 06:47, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

Notability
[edit]Thank you for contributing to Wikidata. I see that you recently created an item that does not clearly indicate its notability. The Wikidata project only accepts items that meet its notability criteria, and your item is therefore likely to be deleted soon. In brief, items must have an associated Wikipedia article, must be needed for statements on another notable item, or must have both identifiers and serious sources. For the last case, a good indication of notability would be multiple articles about the subject in independent publications like newspapers or magazines. You can add such sources as references to specific claims using reference URL (P854), or as top-level claims using described at URL (P973).
Also, this may not apply in this specific case, but you should know that we discourage editors from self-promotion, contributing on topics with which they have a strong personal connection, as this may present a conflict of interest. If you are being paid to edit here, then you are obliged to disclose this. For a longer version, you might find it useful to read the essay "How to create an item on Wikidata so that it won't get deleted". - Please make an effort to fix up some of your previous items before creating any new ones. Bovlb (talk) 00:42, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- @BovlbI appreciate your comment but none of the edits above is paid editing, and they are all contributed as part of Wikidata based projects. All the items related to curriculum are part of the items for the Wikidata for Education project. The items related to schools are all public schools in Ghana. The CHPS items are public clinics in Ghana. The individuals whose Wikidata items are created are also part of a list of people missing Wikidata items in different Wikimedia contest and projects. I understand the notability criteria and would not deliberately abuse it. Of course some of them are missing references, which I feel could be fixed along the line since it is a work-in-progress platform. Dnshitobu (talk) 16:06, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Wikidata has a single notability standard that applies to all items. No project, contest, or outreach initiative overrides this policy.
- Wikidata does not encourage the creation of “placeholder” items to be fixed up later. Items are expected to clearly demonstrate notability with appropriate evidence at the time they are created. Items that do not do so impose a significant review and deletion burden on the project. If you have seen guidance suggesting that non-notable items should be created first and justified later, please let us know so that incorrect advice can be corrected. Bovlb (talk) 16:21, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Bovlb Thank you for the clarification so I will try and work on them Dnshitobu (talk) 19:30, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
