Mainly active on the German Wikipedia, Commons and here on Wikidata. Well, almost. Actually, it's more or less just Commons now, but since I became a file mover and later an administrator, Ziv is now available in 764 language versions, with varying degrees of edits. I live in the beautiful and peaceful country of Switzerland and have never lived anywhere else. However, when I retire, I could imagine emigrating to another country where the winters are more pleasant. Warmer and friendlier. In my free time, I'm working on a book. Wikipedia is my second favorite activity.
In January 2025 I changed my nickname to Ziv. It is a Hebrew name and means brightness, brilliance, glory and splendor. I chose this name because it's short and concise, and I like it.
My work on Wikidata actually started with adding informations to various items. Later on, it mostly involved swapping out filenames because they had been renamed on Commons. I also replace old jpg/png/gif files with svg vector versions manually. These are usually flags, coat of arms, icons, logos or other files that have been replaced by a better svg version. Such exchanges have repeatedly led to items having numerous new language versions added multiple times, for example the Countrydata templates Q6440848, Q7670353 and Q5613328, as they were not linked to Wikidata.
In my capacity as a Commons administrator, I often delete images from Category:Advertisements for speedy deletion and Category:Personal files for speedy deletion. That’s how I discovered that they often linked to Wikidata entries. After reading WD:N and WD:SELF, it quickly became clear to me that advertising was taking place here too, and that is how I came to submit my first deletion requests for items. Now that I am an administrator here as well, I have set myself the goal of helping out and assisting with the processing and deletion of spam and advertisements. My first administrator action ever was therefore a double shot against some userpage spam.
