Having separate wikidata items for synonyms of monocots creates difficulties since the taxon identifiers are associated on wikidata with Liliopsida and Lilianae, and therefore monocots has no identifiers.Michael Goodyear (talk) 16:52, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If monocots has no "identifiers" in the real world, why should it have them here? - Brya (talk) 04:24, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"flowering plants (angiosperms) whose seeds typically contain only one embryonic leaf, or cotyledon" -> Q78961 of (P642) Q30103061 --Fractaler (talk) 14:02, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Taxon name[edit]

What exactly should the "taxon name" (P225) be here? It's currently set to "monocots", but that's obviously only the English name, not the scientific/Latin name that's supposed to be set by this property. Should it be changed to "Monocotyledonae", "Monocotyledoneae" or something else? Uanfala (talk) 23:37, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed the value to "Monocotyledones" (picking one of the variant Latin names that are in circulation). If someone thinks this wasn't a good idea, please speak up now. I've also brought up the wider issue at Property talk:P225#Latin vs. English. Uanfala (talk) 15:16, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's the wiki way, I guess: you point out a problem and for months nobody answers. Then you try yo fix it and within hours you get reverted. Uanfala (talk) 17:37, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at APG III system (Q156982). --Succu (talk) 12:39, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
