Mass murderer is not occupation[edit]

חזרתי (talk) 19:10, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Native English speakers might agree that occupation is not the most fitting term for this field, but most of the world that speaks English as a second language does not agree due to the way the term occupation translates into their respective language. One meaning of "occupation" is "activity", or in this case notable activity. The only other appropriate place to put the field "mass murderer" is "instance of". - Bossanoven (talk) 19:15, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
why dont we add a "known for" field?--Haya831 (talk) 20:46, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
User:Bossanoven - what you wrote is not precise. this is not about "English" vs. "All other languages".
i looked at this property in about a dozen languages (not all - this is a bit much for me), and in about 10 out of the 12, the term is much closer to "profession" than to "activity".
IMO, these (minority of) translations need to be corrected, rather than force their wrong translation on the global meaning of this property. peace - קיפודנחש (talk) 21:02, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
please read Property:P106: "occupation of a person; see also "field of work" (Property:P101), "position held" (Property:P39)
profession job work career employment craft
this clearly demonstrate that what User:Bossanoven is simply wrong. occupation distinctively differ than "One "activity", or in this case notable activity. reverting. peace - קיפודנחש (talk) 17:00, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
