Description[edit]

A botanical name is a formal scientific name conforming to the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN) and, if it concerns a plant cultigen, the additional cultivar and/or Group epithets must conform to the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP). The code of nomenclature covers "all organisms traditionally treated as algae, fungi, or plants, whether fossil or non-fossil, including blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria), chytrids, oomycetes, slime moulds and photosynthetic protists with their taxonomically related non-photosynthetic groups (but excluding Microsporidia) --Fractaler (talk) 13:55, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, enwiki is often very sloppy. Your point being? - Brya (talk) 14:03, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
1) What is ICNafp? 2) WP has links (for example 1). Here - no one --Fractaler (talk) 14:15, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ICNafp = Q693148. - Brya (talk) 14:41, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks --Fractaler (talk) 06:01, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Depending on rank, botanical names may be in one part (genus and above), two parts (various situations below the rank of genus) or three parts (below the rank of species)" --Fractaler (talk) 14:00, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I did indeed write that. What of it? - Brya (talk) 14:03, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, then where infraspecific name (Q631147)? --Fractaler (talk) 14:08, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand the question. Infraspecific names are indeed a form of botanical name. - Brya (talk) 14:16, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I mean: set Q281801 (botanical names), subsets: 1) one part (genus and above) 2) two parts 3) three parts. Where are this subsets here? --Fractaler (talk) 14:20, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • botanical names in "one part (genus and above)" are four five sets
  • botanical names in two parts are two sets
Brya (talk) 14:44, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Is infraspecific name (Q631147) subset? --Fractaler (talk) 06:11, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Could be. Depends on the perspective taken. - Brya (talk) 06:29, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
