hemanta means wintry. frosty, or dewy; not dry[edit]

In many Indo-Aryan languages hemanta (हेमन्त) is not a word for "dry season"; but instead a word for "wintry", "frosty", or "dewy". Hemanta is even the name of 1 of the subcontinent's original 6 Ritus (ऋतु r̥tu); its subtropical seasons, which are each 2 months long. "Dry seasons" however are supposed to last for 4 to 6 months.

I think a more correct Indo-Aryan term would be viyaḷi r̥tuva (වියළි ඍතුව) from Sinhala, where the ඍතුව r̥tuva comes from ऋतु r̥tu and also means "season"; especially since this is the Sinhalese page title for "Dry season" in Wikipedia. Thecurran (talk) 05:24, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
