"Add Statement: Can't Be Arsed"[edit]

@Oravrattas: Is something displaying differently on your end? What I am seeing on multiple devices is

applies to jurisdiction: unknown value

which is a nonsensical, unconnected, and useless waste of the project to mention. If you want to list the actual jurisdictions involved (US states, provinces, &c.) you're certainly welcome to (please do!) but what is the utility of the nonsense you restored? I can't see any at all from my end... (although if that's just my problem sorry for the extra trouble! and thanks for taking the time to walk me through it.) — LlywelynII (talk) 11:14, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

... on the other hand I'm not seeing "normal rank" on the page before or after and I'm still seeing the "jurisdiction: unknown" after reverting your revert ... so now I am completely at a loss as to what's going on w/r/t this part of the page. Deep apologies if I broke something  — LlywelynII (talk) 11:22, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@LlywelynII: Q132050 is a generic item for a governor of an unspecified place. Individual instances, such as Governor of Texas (Q5589725) or Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands (Q3112726), should have a specific applies to jurisdiction (P1001) claim, but the generic item should not. This is the same principle as on prince (Q2747456), foreign minister (Q7330070), member of a legislative assembly (Q5230427), and many other similar items. --Oravrattas (talk) 12:32, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So it is just a silly mistake—a prince generally oversees the jurisdiction of a principality if anything but the generic term prince should simply not have the field at all that would be used to link prince of Wales to Wales, prince of Persia to Persia, &c.—but one that's been copied enough that people feel obliged to protect it instead of fix it.
Eh, fair enough.LlywelynII (talk) 16:17, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
