format as a regular expression - the regular expression is not correct anymore

[edit]

The current regular expression is 98700\d{8}05171, but NLI already have identifiers that look like this: 987010024449905171 . Should change the regular expression to 987\d{10}05171.

The format is Alma MMS ID. The MMS ID is between 8 and 19 digits long, where the first two digits refer to the record type and the last four digits are the unique identfier for the institution. See also here: [1][2]. --Sotho Tal Ker (talk) 21:54, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Propose label change

[edit]

Anyone who patrols vandalism on Wikidata may know that this is one of the most frequently vandalised properties. I wonder if a change to a simpler label would attract less attention from these vandals. I propose "J9U ID" in English and corresponding change in other languages — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:59, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@MSGJ, I don't think that property label should be changed just because they're "frequently vandalized". Which kind of vandalize do you see? Can't we simply protect or block the vandals? This is not a solution. Geagea (talk) 17:15, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think J9U is adaquate label, and I'm already seeing a reduction in vandalism of this property — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:17, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also ABCD is adequate label but it's is not the correct name of the property. I really do not understand how item label can reduce vandalism. Maybe we change also the label of Israel (Q801). It's should reduce vandalism. Geagea (talk) 17:33, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
No need to be facetious. ABCD would obviously not be adaquate. Many of our other properties use a shortform, e.g. GND ID (P227) instead of a longer form. I don't see the problem with that — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:36, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

URL format

[edit]

Hi Geagea, thanks you noticing that the URL format had changed! Must have been very recent since I remember accessing the old service just a few days ago. I placed the English URL version in preferred rank since the property wants to have a single "best" value due to single-best-value constraint (Q52060874). I noticed that the URL format https://www.nli.org.il/en/systemlibrary/mazalitempage?docid=$1 (and similarly for Hebrew and Arabic) works too and gives the same page, so I added them as well. FYI: Difool, this might be of interest to you. Regards Samoasambia 12:27, 4 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
