Object history 1804: transferred to Alte Pinakothek from Palatine Castle, Neuburg an der Donau
Notes Before 1804 in the Palatine Castle in Neuburg an der Donau, therefore possibly from a dowry of Anna Catherine Constance Vasa (1619-1651). Identification of the sitter (17.08.2017) and attribution (31.07.2022) by Marcin Latka (Artinpl). The claims by Mr Jerzy Tadeusz Petrus published in an article in "Artifex Novus", Nr 4 (2020), to "identify" the portrait of Sigismund II Augustus in Munich together with Mr Dalius Avižinis in 2018 "in the database of the Bavarian State Collections published on the Internet", are clearly false given that it was already published as such on different social media and Wikipedia Commons by Marcin Latka (Artinpl) in August 2017.
