Wikidata:Contribute
| You think Wikidata is a cool project? Want to be a part of it? Here's some information about how to contribute for you. | |
Everyone [edit]You can directly edit data pages, see Help:Editing. But there are many other ways to contribute to the project. For all of them you want to check out things like our mailinglist and IRC channel. They are all listed on the main page. |
Developers [edit]As a developer you can either contribute to Wikibase, the extension that powers Wikidata, directly or write things on top of it. If you want to work directly on Wikibase, several bugs are awaiting volunteers. If you are interested in writing bots that work on Wikidata please check out the Bots page. For additional questions, please refer to Wikidata:Contact the development team. |
Wikipedia editors [edit]As an editor you can give valuable input on a lot of decisions have to be made during development. The things that could use your input are listed on the main development page. Here you can help with migrating language links and adding statements at the moment. You may wish to help out with a task force. Later, more features will follow. |
Translators [edit]As a translator you can translate Wikibase, the extension that powers Wikidata, on translatewiki.net. In addition you can help by translating information pages about Wikidata here and also on Meta about Wikidata. You can also help with translating the data here. |
Testers [edit]As a tester you can help by testing the demo system and report bugs you find so they can be fixed before they hit a production system. |
Advocates [edit]As an advocate you can tell others about Wikidata and answer their questions. For example you can spread the word on your Wikipedia or give talks at meet-ups and conferences. Lydia can provide you with slides, flyers and other material you might find useful. You can also join our mailinglist and IRC channel and provide support there. |
Data owners [edit]As someone who has data that you want to contribute to Wikidata please add yourself to the Data Collaborators page. This gives the community a chance to see what is out there and decide what should go in. It is possible to enter data into Wikidata by hand and through a bot via an API. For the latter please review our API and Bots pages. |
Others [edit]If none of the previous stuff fits you please talk to someone on the team (specifically Lydia) to figure something out for you. |
