Hi, in case you are interested, there are instructions on how to perform a merge at Help:Merge. There is also a gadget in your preferences that, once ticked, allows you to move links from one item to another very quickly. Hope this helps :) Delsion23 (talk) 10:23, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

You might want to have a look also at the newer Merge gadget, which allows you to merge entire items and then automatically list them for deletion. --Izno (talk) 02:28, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Hello, AmaryllisGardener! I am just letting you know that I have added the rollback flag to your account, as you are a trusted user on Wikidata. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or leave a message at the Project chat. Thanks, The Anonymouse (talk) 15:51, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations, Dear Administrator![edit]

Deutsch | English | español | français | italiano | Nederlands | português | русский | +/−

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our gift is better than the one at Commons or Meta)

You have your gun; now here's your badge: {{User admin}}/{{#babel:admin}} and {{Admin topicon}}. Enjoy!

AmaryllisGardener, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Wikidata. Please take a moment to read the Wikidata:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Wikidata:Project chat and Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikidata-admin @ If you need access, you can flag someone down at #wikimedia-wikidata @ You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading, although it doesn't always completely apply here at Wikidata. You may also want to consider adding yourself to meta:Template:Wikidata/Ambassadors, and to any similar page on your home wiki if one exists. (WT:Wikidata/Wikidatans on En-WP.)

Please also add/update the languages you speak to your listing at Wikidata:List of administrators. You may also like to add your username to this list if you would not like that items you delete at RfD get marked as deleted automatically. Again, welcome to the admin corps!

--Ymblanter (talk) 18:11, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Please accept my congratulations with the promotion.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:11, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks! --AmaryllisGardener (talk) 21:27, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Please do not override my decision[edit]

When I mark a request as not done, the thing you do is contact me, not unilaterally override it, as you did with rights for Cekli829. Please immediately revert your action.--Jasper Deng (talk) 15:44, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

Ok, reverted. I'm sorry. --AmaryllisGardener (talk) 15:49, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

It seems that your bot is malfunctioning, it's voting on closed RfAs. --AmaryllisGardener (talk) 00:53, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

No problems with bot accounts.I gave invalid votes.--Marmase (talk) 08:30, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Wikidata Game[edit]

Thanks for making me aware of the problem with the Wikidata Game, I'm sorry I did not notice before. I will stop using it for now until it's fixed. --Steko (talk) 18:37, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikidata Game #2[edit]

Same as above, thank you for this information. I will not merge any items in the game until the problem is solved. --LeJC (talk) 18:59, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Same here, although I think it would be better to take the game off line until the issue is resolved, in that case. --Polyglot (talk) 21:00, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
@Polyglot: Yes, we/they are working on that. But the creator Magnus Manske hasn't responded to the message left on his talk page yet. --AmaryllisGardener talk 21:06, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Re: Congratulations, Dear Administrator[edit]

Thank you. PMG (talk) 08:47, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Hey there, I saw you created Calum Broady (Q17298521) and Emma Broady (Q17298531). How are these two persons notable? Jared Preston (talk) 15:38, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Same goes for Simon Broady (Q17298564), Ivona Strýcová (Q17298641), Jindrich Strýc (Q17298585) and Ilona Strýcová (Q17298615). Surely we can't just go around creating truck loads of items for family members of tennis players or any other notable people if they're not notable themselves. Jared Preston (talk) 15:44, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
@Jared Preston: See this discussion. Zolo posted the last comment to that discussion, saying "This page was created at a time when people were hesitant about creating items with no sitelinks. This was a way to say "go ahead, as long as there is some sense in what you are doing". AFAIK, there has not been any major issue with item notability, so I do not think it is worth spending too much time refining this policy at the moment." I am sort of a perfectionist about Wikidata, taking my administrative role very seriously and thus being careful about what I do. That's why I started the discussion. --AmaryllisGardener talk 15:50, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
So, because of one user's comment, you're basically advocating the creation of all these items, even though 95% are never, ever going to be notable? Even the descriptions you've added: brother of x, sister of x... in my opinion are not very helpful. I can understand the perfectionist p.o.v. in wanting to include items for each applicable property, but I'd think a bit more about this before you carry on willy-nilly. Jared Preston (talk) 16:08, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
@Jared Preston: No, I'm not basing this off of one comment, but Jakob brought up this discussion. What I gathered from that was that you shouldn't create items for Ivona's spouse, but Ivona is still notable. I still don't really understand what billinghurst and Filceolaire said. Care to comment, Jakec, Zolo, and TomT0m? --AmaryllisGardener talk 16:19, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
@Jared Preston: I think you are confusing Notability in the Wikipedia sense and notability in the Wikidata sense. See WD:n for details on what is notable on Wikidata. This is by design : to talk about a subject, we need an item. If we want to state someone had a sister, we need an item for that sister, where Wikipedia would only need a textual name. And its fine like that, one purpose of items is just to identify an identifiable subject, whether or not this subject is an acceptable topic for a Wikipedia article. TomT0m (talk) 18:11, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
But why do we need to state that someone has a sister? For many people (OK, in a Wikipedia sense) it's just not relevant – so why should it be relevant to Wikidata? Everyone has a set of parents, so do we have to create two extra items for every person here? Can anyone really understand that point? Just because we have the properties, and that they exist, we should not be required to use them, surely? Jared Preston (talk) 19:21, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
But why do we need to state that someone has a sister?
^Could be used in building family trees or filling out template:infobox person. The way I see it, we should be able to fill in the close relatives of a notable person for the reasons I suggested, but the relatives of a non-notable person won't need items because a non-notable person won't have an article, so they won't need a list of relatives. It's possible that even non-notable relatives of non-notables related to notable people could have some educational value, but that goes more into genealogy and is more appropriate for m:Wikimedia genealogy project.
Furthermore, I've always thought that comprehensive is better. If there are sources for information and properties to support it, we should use it. After all, aren't we trying to be a comprehensive database? --Jakob (talk) 19:58, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
I see that en:Naomi Broady mentions her brothers and sisters. Though I am not sure how interesting this is, I guess that if this is worth mentioning in Wikipedia, it is also worth mentioning in Wikidata. Conveibably, it is better to have it in Wikidata than in Wikipedia as it may facilitate studies like [1].
As for the "brother of X" description, I think it makes sense, as it shows that the item is not about an especially noteworthy individual, but rather about a relative a some more famous person. --Zolo (talk) 07:10, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
Well Jacob and Zolo, that does sound convincing. If I create any such items then at least nobody can say I was spamming without permission! Cheers. Jared Preston (talk) 20:01, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Request for Rollback[edit]

Hi there.

I have rollback and reviewer right on the English Wikipedia and fight vandalism very consistently over there. I am almost finished with the Counter Vandalism course and am experienced with fighting vandalism. I would like to use these rights to fight vandalism easier and quicker. I have now made 1k edits on WIkidata and have a good understanding of how this place works. Thank you for your consideration. A2 05:04, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

I oppose this, since this now really looks like hat collecting. Please, stop requesting additional rights for a minimum period of three months starting now, and when you next do so, please use the established process of requesting it on Wikidata:Requests for permissions.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:32, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
@Akifumii: Yes, like Jasper said, add a request at RfP in a few months. --AmaryllisGardener talk 15:55, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

how to link a position to its organization[edit]

Hi, AmaryllisGardener. Many thanks for your creating such items as PRC Minister of State Security and CPC Yunnan Committee Secretary. Although there is no sitelink in there, they provide useful links for other items' properties. But my question is whether there is any property we can use to link those position items (e.g., Minister of State Security) to their relevant organization items (e.g. Ministry of State Security). Can we see the minister as the "office held by head of government" of the ministry and therefore we can add Property:P1313 to the ministry item? I am not sure. Even if it is applicable, then what property can we add to the minister item? Is the minister a member of the ministry? There is no link between US Secretary of State and US Department of State and I cannot find any enlightening cases. If you can clarify this issue for me, that will be great. Thank you! --Neo-Jay (talk) 23:25, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm not sure either... --AmaryllisGardener talk 03:00, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. Hope such properties can be created in the future. --Neo-Jay (talk) 09:52, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Need help[edit]

I hope you don't mind a quick question/request. I wanted to add Commons Category:Sloane Stephens to Sloane Stephens (Q54670), but on the page, the Commons section at the very bottom has an unclickable gray [add] button and says "List of values is complete." Can you add the Commons cat, or tell me how? Thanks for your time. INeverCry (talk) 23:36, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

@INeverCry: Hmm. It says that for me too. "List of values is complete." usually only appears on items that already have a commonscat. Might be a bug? I would go to project chat and ask there. --AmaryllisGardener talk 23:57, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks anyways. I've done it the old-fashioned way with interwiki, which is good enough for me. INeverCry (talk) 00:08, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

New Global Twinkle[edit]

PiRSquared17 has updated the global twinkle for SWMT members. I was the first to try it out and you will probably test it second :P. Anyways, check out my meta:User:Eurodyne/global.js and copy the code into your js. If you have any issues, send them to me and I'll relay them to PiR. FuzzyDice 00:42, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Salam. Vikidata idarəçiliyinə namizəd olduğum səsvermədə iştirak etdiyiniz üçün Sizə təşəkkür edirəm. Hörmətlə, --►Cekli829 06:20, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Buyrun. Take in the advice people give you and you should be ready for adminship in no time. :) --AmaryllisGardener talk 12:39, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

P1080 and P1441[edit]

Please, do not add P:1080 with fictional works like in this. from fictional universe (P1080) should be used with fictional universes (see the constraints and the talk page). It's present in work (P1441) that should be used for indicate in which work the item appears. Many thanks! --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 15:48, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Ok, I wasn't aware of the existence of present in work (P1441). Thank you! --AmaryllisGardener talk 16:03, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
