Translation Clarification[edit]

East Asian cultural sphere 中華文化圈 is not the same as Adoption of Chinese literary culture 漢字文化圈. This article discusses the two as if they were one topic and the interlanguage links to the are misleading. 「漢字文化圈」is almost always translated as sinosphere in linguistic paper. 漢字文化圈 specifically refers to countries that have been influenced by the Chinese culture and adopted both Classical Chinese (文言文) and Chinese characters (漢字) in either the present or the past. Grouping both 中華文化圈 and 漢字文化圈 under the same category is misleading. The concept 漢字文化圈 emphasizes on Chinese literacy culture, while 中華文化圈 emphasizes more on Chinese cultural. Neither the term Chinese cultural sphere nor sinosphere are equivalent to 漢字文化圈.

Second, there is a specific article written for 漢字文化圈 already. So please migrate the interlanguage links that refer to 漢字文化圈 to Adoption of Chinese literary culture instead of East Asian cultural sphere. --N6EpBa7Q (talk) 08:12, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
